Island fire damages historic property
Around Lake of Bays
By Judy Vanclieaf
The Lake of Bays fire and water rescue boat was put to good use on Sunday of the long weekend when someone paid no attention to the fire rating and bylaws regarding having a fire in Muskoka. Lake of Bays fire crews from Port Cunnington and Baysville fire stations were called to a bush fire on Langmaids Island where, upon arrival, one of the old cottages on the north side of the island along with the bush around it, were ablaze. It really is a shame as Langmaids, a privately owned island, has not only been identified as one of Muskoka's heritage areas, but the owners so far have been nice enough to let everyone use the beautiful beaches to spend our hot, sunny days on. We must treat the island with respect or we will lose our privileges. This is the second fire on the island in the last few years, so it is hard to say if the owners will allow us to continue using it after this. On a less serious note, the Baysville Horticultural Society's spring flower show was a great success with 103 entries. The organizers would like to extend a huge Sales Representative Cell: (705) 646-4024 firstname.lastname@example.org 231 David Street, Gravenhurst Century home boasts 3 bedrooms & 2 baths.
